Cells need to make proteins. Proteins support cell functions and are found embedded in membranes. When a cell needs to make proteins, it looks for ribosomes. Ribosomes are the protein builders of the cell. They are like construction guys who connect one amino acid at a time and build long chains.

 

Golgi body, an organelle, consisting of layers of flattened sacs, that takes up and processes secretory and synthetic products from the endoplasmic reticulum and then either releases the finished products into various parts of the cell cytoplasm or secretes them to the outside of the cell.
